Daltons becomes Learning Company

13 February 2008

Woodworking machinery distributor AL Daltons Ltd and training specialist Didac have been awarded Learning Company status by UK Woodchain (UKW).

UKW said that the awards, presented on January 23, were evidence of the companies' "serious contributions to establishing professionalism across our sector".

Companies applying for Learning Company accreditation need to provide evidence that they have developed training resources across their company, an important step for the wood industry according to UKW.

"The timing of these awards is perfect for Daltons, perfect for Didac, perfect for UKW and for businesses in the sector that want to develop their capacity to compete," said UKW chairman Peter Harland.

"With qualifications and apprenticeships planned to come on stream in a matter of months, followed by government funding for anyone to start training, it's essential that supplies of quality training are assured across the UK wood industries and that employers work with UKW to make sure standards are raised each year through the Learning Company accreditation scheme."

Daltons and Didac are already working together to supply training under the City & Guilds-accredited Woodwise scheme.
