The event on November 8 and 9, held by the German Sawmill and Timber Industry Association (DeSH), focuses on the “changes of our time” and their effects on politics, society and the economy. With prominent guest contributions, the event highlights the opportunities of this transformation process and shows how change can be shaped with wood.
“International crises, economic developments and political initiatives are affecting the environment for people and companies at an ever faster pace,” said DeSH managing director Lars Schmidt.
“The effects bring great challenges, at the same time there are numerous opportunities for the forest and timber industry. From the conversion of the forests to new products and applications to the strategic orientation as a climate-friendly industry, there are far-reaching opportunities to contribute to a sustainable future and to shape this transformation process with wood.
“At the German Wood Congress 2023 we want to make change tangible and discuss both conflicts and solutions.”
Guest speakers will include social anthropologist Bettina Ludwig and the former chairman of the Economic Wise Men, Prof Dr Lars P Feld.
“New ideas and a common vision of what the sawmill and timber industry of tomorrow could look like are created at the German Wood Congress,” added Mr Schmidt.
