Off-site construction specialist Caledonian Building Systems has received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification as part of a wider sustainability drive.

The business has put internal processes in place to ensure that all the timber it uses is from FSC-certified forests, and that timber is tracked from the forest to the building site by FSC chain of custody certification.

Caledonian is also providing company-wide employee training to ensure that the business maintains its commitment levels.

Managing director at Caledonian, Dave Turnbull, said: “FSC certification assures organisations that we work with of the sustainability of our approach. In the midst of economic gloom, maintaining commitment to sustainable working practices is more important than ever.”

In April, Caledonian became the first off-site construction company to sign the WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) Construction Commitments: Halving Waste to Landfill agreement.
