The real triumph, however, was the £2,686 raised for the Maggie’s Cancer Care charity, which was generously doubled by Stewart Milne himself. The total amount of £5,372 donated will fund the charity’s entire programme and information leaflet budget for the year.

In a closely fought contest, ITW Industry’s winning team comprising commercial manager Daryn Scally, key account manager Neil Hoskins, field tool service engineer Mike Hand and Carl Hough of Pasquills racked up 46 points over 18 holes on the Stableford scoring format.

Mr Scally won a £50 prize from one of the various sub competitions when he landed in a two-yard target from a par three tee-off. Mr Scally, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, donated his winnings back. "I fully understand the tremendous help and support that a charity like Maggie’s Cancer Care gives to sufferers," he said.
