Haldane Fisher is to more than double the size of its fleet of Irion sideloaders after Briggs assumed the contract from its takeover by Barloworld, which had supported the merchant for 20 years.
Haldane Fisher operates 23 pieces of materials handling equipment and each of the new trucks will be in use for around 2,000 hours a year, the company said.
The sideloaders will be used for awkward or heavy loads such as timber, roof trusses and building materials at the company’s headquarters in Newry, County Down.
Briggs is the national distributor for Hyster and Yale equipment, and also supplies specialist equipment such as sideloaders. The Irion is designed to handle long loads, such as timber, on uneven ground in the yard or inside, the company said.
"They’re the best sideloaders we’ve had in the time I’ve been with the company," said Haldane Fisher transport manager Colin Morrison.
Briggs Northern Ireland sales manager Colin McNeely said: "Our service technicians are on site at Haldane Fisher each day, ensuring the sideloaders and fork lifts are performing to the required standard."
