Metsä Group (formerly Metsäliitto) is to shed about 130 jobs from existing European locations as part of further plans to centralise its finance operations.
The group is establishing a new finance service centre in the Gdansk area of Poland, where about 100 jobs will be created.
The biggest staff loss affects the Finnish office in Espoo and Tampere.
“Further development of the financial shared services concept would improve standardisation, compliance, cost-effectiveness and productivity of Metsä Group’s finance operations,” said chief financial officer Vesa-Pekka Takala.
“More streamlined finance operations support the competitiveness of the group’s business areas in the future.”
