The company is now in consultation with staff as the rationalisation would result in the loss of 20-22 jobs.
A spokesperson said Grangemouth’s production capacity would be relocated to the company’s plans in Boston, Widnes and King’s Lynn and there would be no reduction in overall production.
“Grangemouth will continue to operate as a key distribution hub [for] customers in Scotland and the north of England and a team will continue to be employed at the site to facilitate this,” the company said.
The Grangemouth site produces GrasseDeck decking and deck tiles and includes an MDF facility and treatment plant. Metsä Wood expects to make a final announcement next month.
