Scott Pallets, the UK’s largest provider of pallets in the construction products supply chain, is working with cement giant Cemex to tackle packaging and transport damage to products.
The initiative aims to stem funds being lost through credits to customers because of damage during the loading and unloading of Cemex products.
The two companies worked together to review aspects of supply chain management and develop a new strategy. Scott Pallets, using specialist PDS software, formulated the best layout for the top boards of pallets to prevent bags sagging between boards and being pierced by forks, a leading cause of damage.
A new priority has been set to increase the volumes of returned pallets.
