American OSB producers have recorded a buoyant first quarter, seeing some of the highest sales levels in six years, according to industry newsletter Random Lengths.
Prices on the Random Lengths OSB Composite hit as high as US$253, the highest since 2006, not allowing for the price spike in early 2010 due to the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.
The improvement has been attributed to production curtailments and a rise in residential construction levels.
However, some traders questioned whether the early boost would affect sales adversely in the normal busy spring period.
