The 10m-long double vacuum plant was bought from West Yorkshire-based Oakworth Joinery, which went into administration in February.
"We always had plans for this type of installation at Cumbernauld, with double vacuum treatments being an important market for us in Scotland," said PTG managing director Neil Ryan.
"The Oakworth plant was in great condition and it would have been a shame to cut it up for scrap. It was the perfect configuration for the space at Cumbernauld and should provide many years of service."
The plant has the capacity to treat 30,000m3 in a single shift and increases PTG’s capacity in Scotland by a third.
Mr Ryan said buying a second-hand plant had the advantage of a lead time of around three weeks, compared with 12-18 weeks for a new plant.
The plant was decommissioned and reinstalled by treatment plant specialist Tweddle Fabrications, which PTG has worked with before.
"You just give them the order and they get on with it. It went without a hitch," said Mr Ryan.
