After an absence of several years, one of the best know names in the UK timber industry, Timbmet, has decided to rejoin The Timber Trade Federation (TTF).
Last year managing director Wendy Trott said that the company saw potential for “involving itself more with the rest of the industry” and that it was looking at renewing its TTF membership. She said that it was not ready to join then, but that she’d had positive talks with TTF chief executive John White and that it was now just “a question of timing”.
In its official statement on rejoining, Timbmet said it was “delighted to be part of the TTF again after a number of years”.
“Its work is well known and widely respected and we look forward to working closely with them again in the future,” the company said.
Mr White enthusiastically welcomed the decision.
“We’re delighted a company of Timbmet standing, reputation and environmental commitment has decided to come back to The Federation,” he said. “We look forward to working with them closely.”
He added that five other companies had also recently joined the TTF: Glennon Brothers, Vapo, European Timber Solutions Ltd, Masons Timber Products and Progressive Solutions International Ltd.
“We also saw a net increase of around 20 members in 2011,” said Mr White. “It’s very encouraging and, I think, an endorsement of our five year plan for the TTF.”
