The programme will explore the biggest topics affecting the timber industry today and consolidate them into helpful bite-sized sessions, designed to fit perfectly into your lunch break: each session will take an estimated 60 minutes and run from 12:00–13:00 GMT.

The sessions will predominantly take place on the first Tuesday of every month, although the first, which will look at correctly demonstrating and specifying the performance of timber fire resistant doorsets, will be held this Thursday, January 14. The presenter is Peter Barker, technical manager at Warringtonfire.

Subsequent sessions are:

  • February 2: UK CA Marking: what will it mean for the timber industry? with Hugh Mansfield-Williams, technical manager, BM TRADA
  • March 2: How to correctly demonstrate and specify the reaction to fire performance of timber cladding systems – speaker to be agreed
  • April 20: How the Fire Safety Bill will impact on everyone in the construction industry,  with David Harries, divisional director, fire and building products Europe, Warringtonfire
  • May 11: Proving compliance with UK Building Regulations when designing with mass timber, with Mostafa Jafarian, principal  certification engineer, facades and structures, Warringtonfire

The first half of the year is largely fire-focused, but we a full timber itinerary is being scheduled for the latter half.

These sessions are free to all TRADA members – including the students of all university members. However, non-members can also participate at just £30 a session.
