Businesses wanting to train several staff at a time in timber frame design detailing could benefit from TRADA Technology Ltd‘s latest initiative.

The company has repackaged its training course ‘101 things to look for on a timber frame construction site’ as an in-house workshop – a move that could result in substantial cost savings for firms.

TRADA’s head of timber technology Dr Paul Newman said: “The increase in timber frame factory prefabrication has led to a shortage of skilled labour on site to supervise the final stages of the construction process and detect problems before completion.

“The workshops will focus on key areas where attention to detail is critical to ensure adequate building performance.”

The one-day workshops will identify where defects might occur and will outline best practice corrective action as specified by TRADA Technology‘s frameCHECK timber frame consultants.

Dr Newman said that by taking the courses in-company TRADA was responding to demand from clients who had made an ongoing commitment to training and wanted to get the best out of their budget. He added: “If all 20 places are filled, it represents a 60% saving on our fixed venue courses.”

Aimed at construction industry professionals, the workshops cost £1,080+VAT.
