James Latham won the coveted TTJ Timber Trader of the Year 2024 at the annual TTJ Awards on Friday, September 20.
Around 300 representatives from the timber and wood products industries attended the event at the Hilton London Bankside. James Latham chairman Nick Latham collected the Timber Trader of the Year trophy from Phil McCormick, board member of Timber Development UK – sponsor of the award.
Lathams was also successful in the Hardwood Trader of the Year (sponsored by Hubtex), Excellence in Marketing (Combilift) and Career Development Over-25 (Glennon Brothers) categories – winner Mateusz Miczek.
Falcon Timber scooped the Panels Trader of the Year award (sponsored by West Fraser), while James Jones & Sons won the Softwood Trader of the Year: Sawmiller of the Year category (sponsored by Koppers) and MDM Timber was successful in the Softwood Trader of the Year: Importer of the Year award (sponsored by Koppers).
Forest Garden won the Timber Garden Products Supplier of the Year award, while Howarth Timber and Building Supplies scooped the Timber Merchant of the Year (sponsored by W Howard).
The Structural Timber Systems Supplier of the Year (sponsored by Bulmor Lancer and in association with the Structural Timber Association) saw Crendon Timber Engineering record yet another win, while Dickson Timber was successful in the Small Timber Business of the Year Award (sponsored by TDUK), and LPD Doors was a first-time winner in the Joinery Products Supplier of the Year.
Harlow Timber Group won both the Environmental Achievement Award (sponsored by Taylor Maxwell) and the Timber Merchanting Development Award (in association with the Builders Merchants Federation), and WJ Group was victorious in the TTJ Timber Innovation Prize (sponsored by ECC Timber).
Lucy Harris of Pasquill won the Career Development Under-25 (Glennon Brothers) category.
Warm weather blessed the TTJ Awards this year, with large numbers of guests enjoying the Post Awards drinks outside the venue in London’s South Bank area. Comedian Geoff Norcott was this year’s host and guest speaker, while the Timber Trades Benevolent Society’s first ever promotional film was shown at the event.
